Monthly support group meetings are held on the third Saturday morning of each month at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. The group has been sharing ideas and coping techniques since 1999. New members are welcome whether you are a parent, sibling or caregiver of someone with FASD, an individual with FASD, a professional working in this field or simply someone willing to help. For times and location information, please call Bonnie at 416-264-8111 or send a message to info@fasworld.com
FASDay is now marked around the world every Sept. 9. Back in 1999, cofounders Bonnie Buxton, Teresa Kellerman and Brian Philcox asked the question: "What if, on the ninth minute of the ninth hour of the ninth day of the ninth month of 1999, we reminded everyone that a woman should avoid alcohol during the nine months of pregnancy. The response to this question has been overwhelming every year since and Sept. 9, 2008 will be the tenth occasion for International FASD Awareness Day as it is officially known. We are looking for volunteers and ideas for this year's FASDay here in Toronto. Please let us have your thoughts at FASDay Toronto
